UNION Blindern/Frederikke - Multiple Usage Destination

The university's legendary Frederikke building was designed in 1961. It was built in the middle of a heyday for design and architecture in Norway. In addition to the building itself, furniture and lighting were also developed. When a large part of the second floor was to be refurbished and turned into a café and meeting point, that historical aspect had to be taken in consideration throughout the entire design process, and at the same time evolve into a modern format, with the solutions it entails. More than a cafe The Union Blinder is designed as; restaurant, bar, café, meeting place, and lounge with the possibility of games such as table tennis, billiards or shuffleboard. It can also be adapted to joint activities such as pub quizzes or concerts. Union Blindern serves as a café and bakery during the day, and a pizza restaurant and bar in the evening. The table/tennis tables can be used as a dining table, curtains can be drawn so that you get private areas. When the stage is not in use, it can be used as seating, while many of the furniture can be arranged for a banquet with seating for up to 200 guests. In other words, it is a flexibility that should satisfy any social needs.
